Born in Cairo, Egypt, Laila grew up in New York City where she mastered the art of walking really fast. She spent her freshman year at Hofstra University before transferring to Cornell in Spring 2019 where she’s currently a senior studying Biology & Society. At Cornell, she’s made West Campus her home by becoming involved in Cook Collective, where she served as vice president, and serving as a Student Assistant in Flora Rose House for a semester.

When she’s not on West, Laila can be found in the Schaffer-Nishimura Lab at Weill Hall studying cardiovascular diseases, trekking up to Collegetown to buy ridiculously overpriced Starbucks coffee or to get bubble tea with friends. In her free time, she enjoys painting, watching tik tok videos, and attempting to recreate said tik tok videos.

Laila is looking forward to building and fostering community and is excited to connect with both new and returning members of the Alice Cook House community.
