House Crest

House Crest
alice-cook-logo

Design cues were taken from the numerous seals and symbols evident in the architecture of the Gothic wings of Alice Cook House.

Keys: symbolize the joint governance of the house by students and faculty.

Book: represents scholarship.

Lions: are traditional symbols of the houses in the colleges of Oxford and Cambridge. They also represent the welcoming of everyone into the house, even the beasts of the field.

Unum: is the Latin word for one, as Alice Cook is the first of the five new Houses.

MMIV: "2004", the year of our founding.

Apple branches: reflect the native natural beauty of upstate New York.
