Santiago García Jaramillo is a third year J.S.D. candidate from Manizales, Colombia. His research focuses on Moral-Political Philosophy, and Constitutional Theory. Santiago has been a professor of constitutional law in Colombia for over ten years. What he enjoys the most about teaching is mentoring students in their academic journey, and supporting his students in their life’s choices. Before coming to Cornell, he obtained his LL.M. from Yale University (2022), and was a clerk at the Colombian Constitutional Court (2015 to 2021). Santiago loves to write papers outside his dissertation research. During his free time, he enjoys reading moral and political philosophy, constitutional theory, García Márquez and Edgar Allan Poe. He also loves to talk about his experiences at the Colombian Constitutional Court, about growing up at a coffee/avocados farm, as well as staying up to date with Latin American politics. Santiago enjoys running at Beebe lake and going on hikes. Feel free to ask him to share a good cup of coffee (and talk about the history and politics of the coffee business).
